As a vegan exercise enthusiast with an intolerance to peanuts, I’ve eaten nut butter obsessively since first discovering it in Australia in 2013. After making and eating plenty of nut butter, I moved to Bristol in 2015 and began working for an organic veg box company and a small health food chain. After developing the initial product concept, I started selling at small markets and getting as much feedback as possible on my nut butters, to clarify the products and their unique selling points.
Since I started selling to retailers in April 2017, I’ve improved the range’s appearance, taste & texture to what they are now. I now entrust my recipes to my chosen manufacturer based in the UK. My premium spreads are comparatively fudge-like to traditional nut butter, with the use of roasted coconut to add a deep, slightly sweet flavour to the base nut.
In the organic sector, there’s little on offer in the breakfast spreads category that satisfies the two demands of my target market: 100% nutritious and delicious. Nutcessity exists to offer premium, organic spreads with an indulgent, slightly sweet taste; but with long lasting satiation and a valuable, varied nutritional content. Without added oil or refined sugar, my nut butters are made with whole fruit, meaning they’re lower in sugar and higher in fibre, and come in some seriously seductive flavour combinations...
